An Introduction:

Now mobiles are in every hand with a digital movement in India , A story behind is GIS clutter data played a very important role with a low resolution remotely sensed images ,which was very prominently helped to locate the towers on an appropriately location to catered the better frequency signals for the mobile within the ranges of tower.

A time of boom :

In the initial days early at 2000, when cellular phone era was just stepped-in in India and GIS Industry helped a lots by its “Achche din “(good Days) on an boomed approach in India. The Geo-informatics  industry to provide the GIS inputs data based on the low resolution satellite data, called clutter data (Land use and Land cover) helps to optimize the frequency and helping the telecom operators to locate and established their towers so that they can catered better frequencies surrounded the tower location.

The data was actually helpful to figure out the  exact scenarios of the scattered and planned urban and habited areas as a clustered classified forms and its was overlaid above the height data (DEM) for the height extraction using 90 meters accuracy or resolution SRTM data.

What is clutter data and its Role in Network Planning :

Clutter data is a another form of Land use and Land cover with certain classes as per the location and nature of the areas based on the clutter data are created based on various high and low resolution satellite data by manual and semi-automatic extraction in ERDAS imagine and other image processing software.

Role of clutter data in cellular network planning :

Clutter data (Land use and Landover) plays a tremendous role for the installing and planning the tower location in an appropriate height by figuring out the certain parameters using defined classes while creation of the clutter data to avoid trees densities, water bodies which affect the propagation of frequencies from tower to the consumers in the habited areas.

The clutter data is created by the remote sensing and GIS experts based on the visual interpretation of the features available in the satellite data and are consolidated those into a classes by recoding the pixels followed by supervised and un-supervised classifications techniques.

Google images based clutter and Planning :

Google maps play a vital role in the remotely sensed data to reduce the supply of low resolution based clutter data suppliers because google has free of cost much better images with them supply free of cost images and maps with readily available high resolutions images which can be easily available for further planning .
